
Anthony J. Brinn, Psy.D.

Dr. Anthony J. Brinn (NYS Licence # 020790) earned his doctorate (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology at Yeshiva University, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Yale University School of Medicine and his post-doctoral fellowship at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System.
Dr. Brinn is currently a Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, where he specializes in evidence-based treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Substance Use Disorders (SUD’s). He also continues to be involved as an Instructor of Psychology at both the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and New York University School of Medicine, where he teaches and supervises psychology interns and psychiatry residents training at the Manhattan VA. He has been involved in various research projects as both primary investigator and consultant – using Qualitative Research Methodology to explore complex clinical and psychological process. Research interests include: Integration of mental health treatments into primary care, Individualized and social interventions for PTSD/SUD’s, and Facilitators of treatment success/compliance in treatment-resistant populations. Clinically, Dr. Brinn’s practice includes a blend of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Third-Wave Behavioral approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He has received certified training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Use Disorders, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Dr. Brinn has given numerous seminars and workshops on Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Integration of Mental Health Treatment into Primary Care, and Treatment of PTSD/SUD’s.
